The Irish mobile operator O2 has acknowledged accidentally blocking the image hosting website IMGUR through its system for blocking alleged child abuse material. There appears to have been no indication that there was, in fact, any illegal material hosted on that site.

As Turkey continues its ban on Google's YouTube and other services, it attracts more and more criticism. After Turkey's President Abdullah Gul himself has taken position against its own government in this matter, it is now OSCE turn to react.
On 22 June 2010, Dunja Mijatovic, the OSCE Representative on Freedom of the Media, asked the Turkish authorities to restore access to Google's YouTube and other services and change the much-criticized Law No. 5651 (so-called Internet Law) in order to be in line with international standards on free expression.

That information hasn't been updated since May 2009. This is why Prof Yaman Akdeniz, who teaches Internet law at Istanbul's Bilgi University, has initiated a trial, based on the Turkish law on access to public information.
In May 2009, the number of websites blocked was already 2601, with a huge increase since May 2008 when the number was only 433.

Finally, the Court of Milan made public the opinion that backed the indictment of a couple of Google's executives charged of Italian Data Protection Act infringement for not removing a violent video from the company's video sharing platform, video.google.com.

About 50 activists demonstrated in Kyrgyzstan on 14 March 2010 in front of the Organisation for Security and Cooperation in Europe, appealing to European organizations to support them in regaining access to independent news websites blocked by the state.
The participants also protested against the blocking of broadcasts of US-funded radio and television programs.

OSCE (Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe) Media Freedom representative Miklos Haraszti asked the Turkish Government on 18 January to change their Internet law in order to observe OSCE commitments and other international standards protecting freedom of expression.
A survey commissioned by Haraszti's office, analyzing Turkey's Internet Law in force since 2007, has shown that based on the respective law, the Turkish authorities were able to block the access to Internet of about 3700 websites.
