The eleventh German Big Brother Awards were bestowed on Friday 1 April 2011 in Bielefeld, Germany. Organized by EDRi member FoeBuD, the ceremony featured eight negative awards in various categories.
In the "Communication" category, Facebook was one winner for "systematically poking its nose into people and their relationships, behind the friendly façade of an ostensibly free service".

The sixth edition of the Czech Big Brother Awards has recently been organised by EDRi member Iuridicum Remedium in Prague BIO eye where an expert jury selected the winners for 2010 from more than 140 nominations.
The Czech police received the Big Brother award in the long-term spying category, for having violated people's privacy by "their serious and long-term interference in people's privacy, mainly for archiving photographs of cars and its drivers from camera-monitoring systems," as the organiser explained.

The winners of the Big Brother Awards Netherlands 2009 were announced on 5 February 2010 in Amsterdam.
In the category "Government", the prize was awarded to the creation of a fingerprint database of all Dutch citizens, to be accessed by the police. This database also received a "popular" prize which could be voted on via the internet.

The French Big Brother Awards ceremony, or 'Orwell Party', was held this year on Saturday 4 April. The 2009 edition awarded 12 of the 35 nominees, in 6 categories, one of them being the positive 'Voltaire Award'.
